its the big 5! berlin frankfurt based label house is ok is celebrating its five-year long presence and has decided to mark that period with something special labels story started with a sticker homeboy printed in his former hometown, zagreb, saying house is ok. catchy, right? it became an underground slogan of the local scene. it didnt take long for people to embrace the idea stating that its ok to be into melodic, fresh, groovy yet, at times, a bit awkward dance music. just around the same time homeboys frankfurt based bros oliver achatz and janis played with the idea of starting a record label. guess what the logical choice for the name was? ten records, dozens of original songs and remixes later house is ok continues to grow. literally. what was once a platform for the original three founders is now an international family affair supporting the talented artists from frankfurt, stockholm, alexandria and orlando. nurturing the friendly approach this musical family continues to grow. looking back at the first five years, not only at the music that connected them all but at the bonds that deepened through the production process, house is ok crew wanted to take create a proper reminder and thank the ones supporting them throughout the years. a double 12 pack titled gemišt seemed like a proper way to do that. „gemišt will be released as two separate eps featuring the original music from kornél kovacs, roman flügel, gavri & mcqueen, tcb, house of life and the label makers themselves. oliver and janis deliver tracks under their known names, while homeboy introduces his new project with fellow wilde renate resident the swift, called longhair. croatian artist ugruv smek marks his yearlong collaboration with the label delivering yet another smashing artwork.

to differentiate between his solo dance-oriented work to the darker tones, kaczmarek aka paul ritch launched his new album titled iiiiiiiiiiiiii on october 30th on his fresh imprint kczmrk. kczmrk is definitely a more personal project for paul, helping him define a newly found darker and more genuine taste to produce electronic music, which would even the most demanding audience left surprised. kaczmareks immersive sounds on his debut album were highly supported by respected artists of the underground scene such as sterac, vril, lewis fautzi, vsk and djedjotronic, who will contribute reworks that will come out in a remix ep in february 2018. the 12inch is gently introduced with a sophisticated remix of iiiii by techno pioneer sterac aka steve rachmad, continuing with vril’s remix of iiiiiiiiii who delivers beautiful ambient tones in a euphoric travel of sound. the b side begins with emerging talent lewis fautzi and his iiiis remix in a deep and hypnotic cut, followed by the curtesy of vsk and djedjotronics remixes of iiiiiiiii. vsk sticks to the dark and hard forms of techno with glimmer of deeper and industrial sounds while djedjotronic enrich kaczmareks dark techno tones with some futuristic idm.

the next ep on raum musik is coming from our dear friend jorge savoretti. jorge is hailing from argentina and is one of the main artists in his country besides franco cinelli. we have been following jorge s work for quite a while and now it was the right match as for our label. we are very happy about this release and we hope that you enjoy the tracks as much as we do.

aktion mutante (violet poison and unhuman) is a synth-punk project recalling the ‘80s minimal-wave melancholic vibes with new school ebm/ cyber-punk noise cuts. the realistic mutation of the human body into a surreal and ascetic mind setting of an apocalyptic contemporary society. a live force with analogue machines. aktion mutante’s alchemy of splintered synth-punk, bloody ebm and haunting wave injects right into the veins and spreads quickly through the body. the duo of violet poison (veleno viola) and unhuman (liber null) couldnt be more suited for each other. after meeting at liber null’s duality event in 2015, the two artists clicked immediately and were able to record some material in italy during the winter of 2016. the result is this suburb 12inch which is composed of six tracks and was mixed by aconito records, london and mastered by andrea merlini, utrecht.

eomac expands the roster of his recently inaugurated eotrax imprint with the introduction of two forerunners in berlin s techno scene: kaltès and nene h. both have built respected reputations as exciting artists to watch, as kaltès organizes tresor berlins female:pressure-affiliated party series and nene h. turned heads with her fountain of fire performance at berlin atonal festival. their collaborative record, the protest ep, presents a call to arms and an empowered take on gnarly techno with a stormy industrial underbelly.

following on from hashman deejay debuting his studio mody moniker as the first release on the newly formed sideline label headed up by salik, comes the second release by going good favourites e. corre and s. letelier (nummer) under a new alias detroit syndrome ... the label is keeping to the 3 track, low key presentation of the first release, with the focus being directed towards the music and continuing with a series that attempts to bring out a style that the artists may not necessarily be associated with. the direction given to the artists from the label is simple - do whatever you like, with the dance floor and longevity of music in mind.

time for a little recognition… pets welcome a true polish techno founding father to the fold: jacek sienkiewicz. dj since the early 90s, producer since the late 90s and one of the earliest artists to stamp their country down on the techno map, jacek was one of the first polish producers to be signed by the likes of trapez, cocoon and klang and laid down the foundations for the likes of pets founders catz n dogz several years later when they emerged as 3 channels. og status confirmed, hes remained just as consistent as he is influential. this single is proof: ‘su17 is a bubbling sine cauldron that starts with a simmer but builds to a boil with its ever-morphing, lava-like flow. expert drum momentum and sudden layers of instrumental help to create a fluid three-track-in-one experience that spellbinds you crowd for the entire eight minutes without realising. ‘mustang is a cascading synth odyssey that gently rises and falls like an escher looped staircase. gradually building in momentum with more of jaceks signature hypnosis flare, its not until the drums double up with an almost live-style visceral feel that you realise just how high jaceks taken you. it comes complete with a star-lit switch from berlins serial innovator tobias, where the synths are deftly refocused and a whole layer of orchestral delight are layered within.

last year i linked up with redbull france. they brought me out to paris for a week, paid for my records, and let me craft beats in their studio (i ended up moving the equipment to my hotel room due to smoking restrictions). the idea was to use strictly french samples, then hook me up with a bunch of dope new young artists from france and brussels to make songs out of the beats. the final piece to the project was a sold out show in france where i presented each artist and they performed both the songs we did and their own hit songs. the project came out dope, i linked up with some really talented artists, and ended up making more than enough joints. this is the instrumental version of the project. only 1000 pieces made. enjoy. alchemist

this split lp compiles the output of two closely related bands from, as suggested by the title, the hot, humid and (at the time) socially isolated city of brisbane, australia – an unlikely location for synth-pop and new wave music during the 1980s. prod & the moonbaby were a high school duo experimenting with tape loops, cheap electronics and primitive sampling.. the result is certainly lo-fi, light-hearted and naive, but also charming and the music belies the young age of the musicians. ash in october was in many ways a logical progression of prod & the moonbaby and shared some of the same personnel, but also added some new wave influence through extra instrumentation and more serious, considered lyrics. most of these tracks have never been heard before outside a handful of self-distributed tapes and this compilation was compiled over several years by the artists in collaboration with hysteric and nick mariano (crispy nuggets).

cryovac recordings seeks out characters that give depth to the soundscape of detroit s underground. cryovac individuals believe in their path and stand for their art. ray7 is a multifaceted musical being surviving an ever evolving technosphere. he is an unknown hero that holds his own sonicly on any side of the planet. ray7 provides the power needed for the cryovac machine to hatch a new plot. cryovac exists due to the efforts of craftsmen and artists that work together to make something unique. side a starts with an ancient zulu chant that provides protection as well as a funky sort of techno break pop. the next track grinds in to a ruff and gritty narration of ghetto mind-set under the influence of classic electro. a constant roll moves the last track into addition and subtraction inside of a spartan groove that breaks and turns with strength. side b opens with a busy 4/4 be-bop lackadaisically drifting with dreamy synth over the chatter of voice, hi-hats, and reverb broken down by a 303 buzzing. track two is a dark and sloppy incomprehensible subliminal sing-a-long building and ebbing around a stark kick and clap.

originally released in 1984, identical-twin-brother duo aleem’s release yourself gets a timely repress. this is an early electro masterpiece that goes a long way in showing what subsequent trends have inherited (vocal sample re-pitch, reverence for drum machines, etc.) and what, for better or for worse, they’ve largely discarded (infectious, funky positivity). they don’t make it like this anymore. comes with free titular advice to any artists struggling for label deals.

alpi are an italian production duo that arrive on voight following excellent releases for arnaud le texier s children of tomorrow and the legendary dutch imprint planet rhythm. having shared the dj booth with artists such as markus suckut and kobosil, they are one to keep a close eye on.

gogo music proudly presents this album sampler release which assuredly will be cementing sir lsg’s reputation as one of the most exciting artists on the scene. with his tasteful and innovative recombination of traditional and contemporary electronic elements, he put together a masterly crafted testament about life or as he puts it, “the representation of people as constantly moving objects, to reach a certain destination or form, is depicted in the music, highlighting ordinary experiences - through highs and lows, we keep on moving.”

it s been a while since marcello giordani last release. now the man who powerfully relaunch the italo sound in 2008 with the acclaimed blog italo deviance is back on the scene after 2 years of hard work and research into the deepest and obscure italo sound. this 6 tracks lp travel through again into the unique sound of the early 80 s italo disco built with spacey analog sounds, some cheesy atmospheres and a touch of primitive trance chords. marcello s taste is very clear and specific when we speak about electronic disco and this lp is totally inspired by artists like farina/rago, sangy, alexander robotnick, alessandro novaga, doris norton and also from his experience collecting and playing this shit during the last 20 years.
if you want to give a name to the style of this lp, call it -organic italo-.

a little over six years ago, let s play house because, in earnest, with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly, the track it revolved around was by runaway, the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault, and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint, beautiful swimmers, slow hands, and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once, but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this, a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately, it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks, albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted, a little tilted, a little tipsy, but, as always, tight and tidy. funny how, since 2009, everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.

the “natty dread a weh she want” set brings together two legends of reggae music. the stylish and unmistakable falsetto voice of singer horace andy and the production/dj singing skills of tapper zukie. both artists catalogues of music stand up strong but this, originally released 1979 set of songs seems to have brought something special out of both of them when producing/writing and arranging this set of tunes. “natty dread a weh she want” was a massive hit when it was released by tapper zukie and horace andy but this timeless track still sounds as fresh today as the day it was released in 1979, as do the other tracks on this fine album.

jaxx madicine is a jazz-funk inspired house-ish outfit from milan consisting of turbojazz (local talk, gamm records), parker madicine (heist, bastard jazz brooklyn, ct-hi records) and the talented jazz keyboardist veez_0. with an organic and melodic sound collage you can hear influences from classic 70 s jazz funk labels and artists like cti, mizell brothers, kudu and bob james but also the current sounds of kaidi tatham, byron the aquarius and harvey sutherland. after their debut ep montreux they are now ready to drop their full album distant classic where the jaxx crew exit planet earth and treat us to a space music odyssey that is full of surprises. during the journey they deliver house, jazz, fusion, boogie and jazzy beats from a highly melodic keyboard perspective. all tracks are made with a genuine love for analogue synthesizers, fender rhodes, clavinets and some soulful mpc programming. distant classic is an album that can be enjoyed both in the club and at home, but we hope you will enjoy their melodic sounds on any platform. just press go and enjoy the trip.

blurt are perhaps the act who have played live at optimo more than any other. active for close to 40 years they are one of the uk’s all time great acts, phenomenal live and on record and supremely underrated. blurt mainman ted milton is a living legend. now in his 70s but more vibrant on stage than most artists 50 years his junior, he is a man of many talents, artist, poet, musician, performer…. in 1984 he released a solo 12”, “love is like a viol&#275,nce”, a no doubt accidental dancefloor gem completely out of kilter with any other music of the era that now makes total sense in 2017. dubbed-out stabs, programmed rhythm, trademark sax squeals and a more subdued than normal vocal that is strangely reminiscent of vincent price. thee definition of a cult classic and much in demand, side a of this 12” presents the a and b side (the equally outre “it’s only recently that stalins have begun to roost”) of this mighty 12” on one side of vinyl.

after popping up on a various artists release last year, ugly frankie makes good on his connection to the vinyl only label with a full fat ep of chunked up, funked out house business for sunny climes. there s a dusty, rolling tone to the tracks on offer here - the crafty edits, nimble sample treatment and inventive layering creates a vibe you can lose yourself in all day. these aren t just straight up dancefloor rollers either cow boogie bumps and slides with a low slung swagger that will have you popping at a slower tempo but they re all prime for the get down. for some dusty, soul-laced cuts produced with flair, look no further.

played by ricardo villalobos - its time for the next release on long-running paris label bass culture and owner d julz has invited a crack team of talented individuals to deliver the magic to this latest instalment in the label s release schedule. this extra special remix package features contributions from the legendary dj skull, along with sebo k, henrik bergqvist and romanian mp. the bossman s own 2015 ep houdini is the subject of this exquisite bunch of reworks, giving the whole release a fresh lick of paint from a group of artists handpicked by d julz to get to work on his productions. the title track houdini is first in line, with the mighty dj skull on remix duty. the chi-town legend has been a favourite of d julz since the early nineties when he was releasing on labels such as djax-up-beats. the funk-imbued workout he creates from the original production is superb and a testament to someone who has been involved in music for three decades and still going strong. keeping dj skulls remix company on the a-side is sebo k with his take on serendipity. following on from his outstanding ep brock wild, sebo returns to bass culture with another taught dance floor cut, full of swing and groove, pushed along with a strong, insistent energy. on the flipside the deep sultry flavours continue to bubble up. two more dynamic artists bring their unique touch to bass culture and the first is the romanian wonderkid mp (mihai popescu), who has previously released on the sub-label bass culture limited. his reinterpretation of serendipity is deep, nuanced and quirky with a simmering atmosphere throughout.last but certainly not least is the swedish maestro henrik bergqvist. waiting 4 visa gets a kick in its step, with mysterious cosmic fx layered over a mesmerising bassline and a collection of bleeps and chirps that really bring the remix to life. and there it is, four superb new mixes of three great tracks... enjoy!

as huntleys + palmers events has drawn to a close, 2018 will see a big focus in releasing some brilliant new music and introducing some amazing new artists. first up is wheelman straight out of glasgow and fresh off the back of his debut for our studio barnhus buddies. to our shame, it took a kornel kovacs trip to rubadub to bring to our attention a real talent who was under our now the whole time! hed even been to a bunch of our parties and wed never made the connection. righting this wrong, we promptly hit him up for music to include on a clyde built compilation and they were so good, we designated the bulk of these tracks to this release 5 absolute belters!

japonaiserie was the term the dutch post-impressionist painter vincent van gogh used to express the influence of japanese art. artists including manet, degas and monet, followed by van gogh, began to collect the cheap colour wood-block prints called ukiyo-e prints a mini lp by benoit b, the boss of banlieue records, on which he creates a futuristic environment influenced by the japanese electronics of the 80s. a musical japanaiserie that can melt your cold cold heart.

after exploring georgian soundscapes, the intergalactic research institute for sound is honored to reissue stanislav tolkachevs blue mood. first released on aftertaste recordings in 2008, this masterpiece is in the institutes opinion one of the most impressive work of the ukrainian artist. for the occasion, stanislav created the artwork for the record in order to complement or maybe represent an idea behind the release. the institute plans to ask artists to deliver also a visual on top of their sound communication on the label. limited copies of blue mood will include a photography of tolkachev’s artwork. absolute limit, which finds itself on the b side, is a brand new track by tolkachev. as usual he delves deeper into abstract and distorted techno, delivering a truly mental cut.
